nowadays everyone is too afraid to feel like the weaker person. we’re afraid to feel vulnerable. we’re afraid to take chances. we’re afraid to speak up. we’re afraid to say what’s on our mind. we don’t want to risk feeling bad, rejected, weak, unaccepted, etc. we don’t want to do anything that will make ourselves look foolish. we care about our appearance, our reputation, and our pride. and i’m going to be honest, i care about all of those things. and when someone says they don’t, they’re just masking it with their pride and strength tryna brush it off. but they do care. we all do. we’ve just grown to learn how we’re supposed to act, what we’re supposed to do, what we’re supposed to say, what we’re supposed to feel, what we’re supposed to think, etc. you get my point. friends, family, and society influence our lives and everything around us so by nature we tend to try our best to belong and fit in. we lose opportunities. we lose our chances. we misunderstand. we mistaken gestures. we’re too scared to admit our feelings. we’re too afraid to say “you look really cute today” “i like your new boots” “you’re beautiful” “i’m happy that you’re my girlfriend/boyfriend” “i love you” “i miss you” “you looked really pretty that day, i loved your hair” and so many more. we don’t want to reply to a person using a smileyface if the convo is dead. we don’t want to use a smileyface if they didn’t use one in the previous text. we don’t want to seem interested in a guy we’re totally head over heels for, fearing the fact that we may seem clingy or easy. we don’t want to text that girl because it’s seems ‘cooler’ to show everyone that you don’t care about her anymore, that ‘men can move on to the next’. we take forever to reply if we didn’t get a text right away. we would always want to win an argument and have the last say. we’re greedy and generous. we’re full of different traits and emotions and as people, we naturally act with our pride, fear, and uncertainty. but one of these days, i’m hoping to change my life into something much more meaningful.
